BACKSTAGE & DANCER HOLDING
Assigned dressing rooms are located upstairs at UFV. Due to limited space, parents are not permitted in the dressing room areas.
A rehearsal area is available in the Green Room, with additional space in the gym or cafeteria after school hours.
PROPS & LOADING
Due to limited storage, all props must be clearly labelled with the routine number and removed after the session in which they are used. Large props may be unloaded through the loading bay, which can be found behind the stage. Please check in with The One staff before unloading.

A COMFORTABLE COMPETITION DAY
The NEXT ONE is thoughtfully structured to reduce rushing, long waits and uncertainty. Dancers have time to become familiar with the space, prepare between routines and celebrate their experience throughout the day.

STAGE WALKTHROUGH
At the beginning of each session, dancers are invited to view the stage and become familiar with the performance space before competing.

SHORTER SESSIONS + MORE AWARDS
Shorter performance sessions mean more frequent awards and less waiting for dancers and families. Awards include One of a Kind recognition, activities and uplifting moments throughout the event.

MORE TIME BETWEEN ROUTINES
Additional spacing between routines gives dancers time to prepare, audiences time to settle and everyone a little extra breathing room when needed.

SCHEDULE RELEASE
A draft schedule will be provided to registered studios for review. Final schedules are released at least four weeks before the event.
STUDIO REMINDERS:
Music must be uploaded through Dance Comp Genie two weeks before the event, and waivers are due one month before the event.
Studios should remain available for both advertised event dates until the final schedule is released.
Schedule requests cannot be accommodated.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT LEVEL
The NEXT ONE offers two Rising Star levels so dancers can perform alongside others with similar training and competition experience. Studios are responsible for selecting the appropriate level for each solo, duo/trio or group.

RISING STAR LEVEL 1
Designed for dancers who generally train 1–3 hours per week and have 0–2 years of competition experience.

RISING STAR LEVEL 2
Designed for dancers who generally train 3 or more hours per week or have 2–3 years of competition experience.
PLACEMENT GUIDANCE

Mixed-experience routines are generally best suited for Level 2.

Aerials, double pirouettes, intermediate tap rhythms or comparable techniques may indicate that Level 2 is the better fit.

Studios are responsible for selecting the appropriate level. The One may review and adjust placement when necessary.
The NEXT ONE is a standalone Rising Star experience with awards and recognition that differ from our regional competitions. Routines do not qualify for The Final One, and this event does not include a Showdown.
